Ann Demeulemeester launched her eponymous label in 1987, together with her husband and creative partner Patrick Robyn. She is apart of the Belgian fashion designer group known as the Antwerp six who were designers who graduated from Antwerp’s Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 1980-1981. They are a notable group of designers because they all went on to have similar but unique impacts on the fashion industry then and now. Ann is known for her designs that seem simple at first glance but really pay attention to small detail, unique construction and body drape.
