Shinichiro Arakawa moved to Paris in 1990 to study fashion styling after graduating from a fine arts school in Tokyo. During his time in Paris he met renowned designer Christopher Nemeth and began working for him as an assistant. This time was crucial for Arakawa because it’s how he developed his design techniques and formed his conception of fashion. In 1993 is when he had his first runway show in Paris under his own name, Arakawa always chooses a theme to base his collections on, and to present them he looks for places that reinforce these themes. In 1997 he began a collaborative relationship with the motorcycle brand Honda, which led him to change his creative field to designing motorcycle clothing and accessories.
This piece features an acrylic knit frontside with color blocking, embroidered Honda logos (back logo letters are corduroy), and interior pocket D-ring and clip for attaching belongings too. The reverse side is full nylon with rubber filled elbow pads and leather trim on pockets. Here’s your chance at a rare collaboration piece that is functional from an underrated designer.
